Softball Unveils 2025 Schedule

The Flames open the season in tournament play at the South Alabama Invitational on Feb. 7

CHICAGO (Dec. 6, 2024) – The UIC softball team is gearing up for an exciting 56-game 2025 regular season this upcoming Spring. The Flames are slated to face off against top-tier conference programs from the Big Ten, Big 12, Big East and the Sun Belt. They are also prepared to embark on their third season in the Missouri Valley Conference.
 
"Historically UIC softball has traveled wherever necessary to play a schedule that allows our players to compete at a high level," head coach Lynn Curylo said. "I believe this schedule is both balanced and challenging."
 
The Flames are set to take on stellar programs to open their season across the months of Feb. and March in tournament play. UIC is slated to face tough competition in two different programs who made it into the 2024 NCAA Regionals in the Sun Belt's South Alabama and Big Ten's Indiana. Also on the docket is a tournament hosted by the Big 12's Texas Tech (Feb. 21-23). The Flames will face off against the Red Raiders of ton Feb. 22 at Rocky Field, who has the reigning USA Softball Collegiate Pitcher of the Year in junior NiJaree Canady joining their team this season.
 
The Blue Demons of DePaul arrive to Flames Field for UIC's home opener on March 18. This will be the first time they are set to battle it out on the diamond in over two seasons. This will be one of two neighboring Chicagoland schools arriving at Flames Field to compete, with Northwestern set to battle it out against the Flames Tuesday, April 22nd. Fresh off their 2024 NCAA Regionals appearance, the Wildcats return to Flames Field for the first time since 2013.
 
The Flames open MVC play beginning on the road at Missouri Valley Conference play at Missouri State March 14-16. UIC will be prepared to host Northern Iowa (March 21-23), Valparaiso (April 1), Murray State (April 4-6) and Belmont (April 11-13). UIC closes out conference play against Bradley (May 2-4) before traveling to Des Moines, Iowa. to compete in the 2024 MVC Softball Championship at Drake's Buel Field starting on Wednesday, May 7.

  • 2024 MVC Softball Championship (May7) in Des Moines, Ia. – postseason play begins.
