ALLENDALE, Mich. (Feb. 8, 2024) – The UIC indoor track and field teams are gearing up for another weekend of competition, as they will be at Grand Valley State's Big Meet on Friday and Saturday inside the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale, Mich. Organized as two separate invitationals, the Big Meet is one of the largest Midwest events of the season with more than 40 teams competing.
Big Meet Friday track events begin at 7:30 a.m. (CT), with the field competitions kicking off at 10:30 a.m. (CT). On Saturday, both running and field events will start at 10 a.m. (CT). Fans planning to attend the meet can purchase tickets on the GVSU website. Live results and a live stream for both days of the meet will be available at
UICFlames.com.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Flames competed at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational, battling against several of the region's top programs such as Indiana, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan State and Notre Dame. Junior
Max Rivera (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and senior
Anthony Gordon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) clocked in top-10 finishes for UIC in the 60-meter dash and long jump, respectively.
FLAMES TO WATCH
Women
The Flames will be represented well in the mile, as both senior
Daniela Martinez (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) and graduate student
Cailyn Persinger (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit West/UMKC) will compete in the event. Martinez currently holds the fifth-best mile time in UIC history, while Persinger is not far behind, ranked seventh in Flames history.
Men
Rivera will represent the Flames in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes, currently owning the school record in both events. Graduate student
Dathan Maton (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) will be competing in the 3,000-meter run, an event in which he also set the school standard.
