ST. LOUIS (March 14, 2024) – Following her second-place finish in the individual standings at the Butler Don Benbow Spring Invitational, the Missouri Valley Conference named UIC senior Megan Tang (Memphis, Tenn./St. Mary's) its Golfer of the Week Thursday morning.

Tang finished 2nd out of 90-plus participants at this week's Butler Don Benbow Spring Invitational, held at the Ardea Country Club South Course in Oldsmar, Fla. The senior jumped 12 spots on the leaderboard from Monday to Tuesday after shooting a 72 (E) to secure the second-place finish. The Flames finished third in the team standings, the highest among all MVC programs competing in the 14-team field.

Tang's two-day score of 150 is tied for the eighth-lowest round in 36-hole competition in program history. She has shot a 72 or better in five of the 15 rounds she's played this season. This week's second-place finish was her second top-three finish this year.

"I'm really grateful for being named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week and I'm really proud of our team for placing third in the team standings," Tang said. "We're excited for our next tournament and the opportunity to compete."

This is Tang's second-career MVC Golfer of the Week honor and her first of the 2023-24 season. She received this week's honor alongside Illinois State's Ali Schrock.

Thursday's recognition is the sixth weekly honor by the MVC awarded to the UIC golf program this season. Along with Tang, graduate student Dasa Urbankova (Brno, Czech Republic/Menlo College) has received the honor four times and the conference named senior Brooke Beyer (Mesa, Ariz./Desert Ridge) its golfer of the week in October.

Tang and the UIC golf program are back in action starting Monday as the Flames travel to Prospect, Ky. for the Nevel Meade Intercollegiate. The two-day event runs from March 18-19 at the Nevel Meade Golf Club.
