MURRAY, Ky. (April 14, 2024) The UIC women's tennis program (8-12, 4-3 MVC) concluded its two-match road swing with a 5-2 loss against Missouri Valley Conference leader Murray State (12-5, 5-0 MVC) Sunday afternoon at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.
The Flames won the doubles point for their seventh match in a row, while junior
Camille Belberka (Saint-Denis-lès-Bourg, France Seward County Community College (Kan.) won her match at No. 4 singles in straight sets.

- The Flames won the doubles point with victories by the No. 2 doubles team of Tamara Malazonia (Birmingham, United Kingdom/St. Paul's School for Girls) and Camille Belberka (Saint-Denis-lès-Bourg, France Seward County Community College (Kan.) and the No. 3 doubles tandem of Zara Ryan (Dublin, Ireland/Utah State) and Paula Rodriguez Gregoris (Canary Islands, Spain International School of Berne).
- Ryan and Rodriguez Gregoris clinched the doubles point for the Flames, with a 7-6, 7-3 tiebreak victory.
- Malazonia and Belberka have a team-high 13 doubles wins in 2024 and are on a 11-match win streak dating back to Feb. 10.
- UIC has won the doubles point in every conference competition this season.
- After Murray State won singles matches at the Nos. 1 and 5 positions to take a 2-1 lead in the team score, Belberka defeated Murray State's Varya Alexeyeva in straight sets to tie the match at 2-2. The victory was the junior's team-leading tenth singles win this season.
- Murray State would win the final three singles matches to come away with the 5-2 victory.
- All six singles matches Sunday were decided in straight sets.

UP NEXT
- UIC is at home Sunday afternoon as the team takes on Valparaiso (10-11, 1-5 MVC) in its regular season finale. Sunday's match will take place starting at 1 p.m. at either the XS Tennis Village or the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts.
- The Beacons lost to Missouri State 4-3 in its most recent match. The program is 1-5 in away contests this season.
- The Flames are currently fourth in the MVC standings while the Beacons are in eighth-place.
