CHICAGO (April 4, 2024) – The UIC men's and women's outdoor track and field teams will stay close to campus this weekend as the Flames prepare for the Chicagoland Championships, hosted by Elmhurst University. The meet will begin Friday, with Flames competing in distance events in the evening. Field events will kick off the action Saturday, followed by running events.
After a six year hiatus, the Chicagoland Championships are being held for the first time since 2017. UIC will join more than 20 programs at the two-day event.

The Flames competed in St. Louis for the WashU Distance Carnival March 28-29, and at Illinois State's annual Redbird Challenge on March 30.
With more than 100 teams at the WashU Distance Carnival, freshman
Praise Oyebanji (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) stood out in the 800m, finishing first in her section (2:11). On Saturday, senior
Olivia Dumas (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) came in second-place in the 200-meter dash (25.68) at ISU's Redbird Challenge.
FLAMES TO WATCH
Women
- Dumas, who is second all-time in the 100m (12.27), is slated to compete in the 100m dash on Saturday.
- Junior Nyarai Terry (Chicago, Ill./Thornton) will compete in the 100m hurdles on Saturday. Terry ranks second in Flames history in the event (14.86).
- Senior Haley Dahl (Belvidere, lll./Belvidere North) will also compete in the 100m hurdles as well as the 400m hurdles. She sits sixth (15.46) and fourth (1:05.58) all-time for those events, respectively.
- On Saturday, Oyebanji will represent UIC in the 400m.
Men
- Junior Max Rivera (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley), who is fourth in UIC record books in the 100m (10.64) and fifth in the 200m (21.76), will compete in both events on Saturday.
- Classmate Paul Sackman (Lincolnwood, Ill./Niles West) will represent the Flames in the 100m and 200m races as well.
- Senior Sacrad Michelin (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) is expected to race in the 400m on Saturday.
- Sophomore Angel Solis (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) will run in the 1500m on Saturday.
