CHICAGO (May 7, 2024) – The UIC baseball team (31-14, 14-7 MVC) opened a four-game home-stand Tuesday night, its final home-stand of the season, welcoming Purdue (32-17, 12-6 B1G) to Curtis Granderson Stadium. After falling behind early and battling back two separate times, the Flames were unable to narrow the gap late in the game, dropping the season series finale 11-9 to the Boilermakers.

GAME SUMMARY
- The Boilermakers got off to a quick start against UIC starting pitcher Zak Gould (Channahon, Ill./Joliet Catholic), striking for five runs in the first inning. Purdue added a sixth run in the top of the second inning to take a 6-0 early advantage.
- The Flames wasted no time answering back, plating three runs in the bottom of the second inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Jackson Fisher (Chariton, Iowa/Des Moines Area CC).

- Fisher added another RBI in the bottom of the third inning in his next at bat, singling home a run to cut the deficit to 6-4.

- UIC broke through in the bottom of the fourth inning, taking the lead thanks to three runs, highlighted by a two-run double by Ryan Nagelbach (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) to right-center field.

- After surrendering the lead back to the Boilermakers in the top of the sixth, the Flames tied the game once again at 8-8 in the bottom of the sixth, as Zane Zielinski (Chicago, Ill./Northeast CC) launched his eighth home run of the season on the first pitch of the inning.

- Purdue tallied a run in the seventh and two in the eighth, and the Flames could only muster one in the bottom of the ninth on a solo home run from Kendal Ewell (Calumet City, Ill./Kentucky).

The Flames will continue their four-game home-stand this weekend, as they welcome Illinois State (24-22, 12-9 MVC) to Chicago for their final home series of the season.
