CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (May 5, 2023) – The UIC men's and women's track and field programs wrapped up their final regular season meets last weekend at the Indiana Billy Hayes Invitational and Illinois Fighting Illini Tune-Up. The two events served as a last chance for UIC student-athletes to compete before next weekend's Missouri Valley Conference Championships.

"This was a great opportunity for a few of our athletes to compete one last time before the MVC Championships," said head coach
Paul Zavala. "Overall, our team is excited to compete at a high level next week and showcase all the hard work we put in this season."
TOP FINISHERS
Men
- Senior Sacrad Michelin (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) crossed the finish line second in the 200-meter dash at the Fighting Illini Tune-Up with a time of 21.66.
- In that same race, freshman Amare Harris (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) was on his teammate's heels, as he finished third (22.21).
- Junior Max Rivera (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) placed ninth in the 100-meter dash at the Billy Hayes Invitational (10.82).
- Freshman Orlando Hernandez (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) clocked a personal-best time in the 3,000 meters (9:05) for a 15th place finish at the Indiana meet.
Women
- Freshman Amiriah Larry (Chicago, Ill./Noble/Muchin/Middlebury) raced in the 200-meter dash, finishing sixth (26.13) at the Fighting Illini Tune-Up.
- Senior Haley Dahl (Belvidere, lll./Belvidere North) turned in a personal-best time in the 400-meter dash (1:03.15) to place ninth at the Billy Hayes Invitational.
- Freshman Shania Potts (Chicago, Ill./Bremen) represented the Flames in jumps at the Indiana meet, achieving a season-best mark of 5.20 meters in the long jump, which put her in 11th place.
UP NEXT
The Flames will gear up for the meet they've been preparing for all season, the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
