Jesus De Vicente and Bart Muns Named National Players to Watch

Pair of Seniors Poised to Make Tremendous Impact for Flames This Season

CHICAGO (August 12, 2024) – The United Soccer Coaches (USC) released the list of players on its NCAA Division I Men's Players to Watch list for the 2024 season Monday, and Flames duo Jesus De Vicente (Casas Bajas, Spain/Iowa Western CC) and Bart Muns (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Santa Barbara CC) were each honored at their respective positions among the nation's elite soccer players.

De Vicente started all 18 matches he appeared in during the 2023 season, logging full time in 11 of those matches. As a defender, he ranked second in NCAA Division I with 11 assists while contributing four goals, all in consecutive matches for the Flames. He was named to the All-MVC First Team in 2023 and was one of two UIC men's soccer players to earn All-Region honors.

Muns led the Flames in goals and points in 2023, tallying eight goals and six assists on the season. The Netherlands native was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Team following the season after starting every game for the Flames and tallying almost 1,600 minutes on the year,
 
The Flames open the regular season on Thursday, Aug. 22, as they host city rival DePaul at 8:00 p.m. at Flames Field. Admission is free for all fans in attendance, and the match can be seen live on ESPN+.
