Flames Victorious in Sunday Afternoon Missouri Valley Conference play against Valparaiso

UIC improves to 3-5 against the MVC to conclude three-game home stand.

CHICAGO (Jan. 26, 2025) – The UIC women's basketball team (6-11, 3-5 MVC) went to battle against Valparaiso (6-13, 3-6 MVC) in a Sunday afternoon battle in Missouri Valley Conference play, coming away with a 60-45 victory to conclude a three-game homestand.

COMMENT FROM HEAD COACH ASHLEEN BRACEY

"A good win for us against Valpo. Obviously, we were neck-and-neck in the standings, although it is very early. Against Valpo, with them being our travel partner, it is always a tough match-up. We've played them at least three times each of the seasons I've been here because we play them in the conference tournament as well and it always comes down to a single possession game. I think I am just really proud of our defensive effort, because if you are willing to defend and are willing to chip away at it and kind of expand that lead. I think we were able to do that today, despite sort-of a rough shooting night where we shot 39% from the floor."
