UIC Track & Field Adds More All-Time Performances at DePaul Invite

Flames Continue Spectacular Indoor Season with More Records in the Windy City

CHICAGO (Feb. 9, 2025) – The UIC men's and women's track and field teams continued their strong indoor season at the DePaul Blue Demon Alumni Invite on Saturday, February 8th, with several athletes earning top finishes and etching their names into the program's record books. MEN

Nikolas Norton sprinted to a 4th-place finish in the 60m with a time of 6.92, moving to 5th All-Time in UIC history.
Amare Harris clocked 49.89 in the 400m, securing a 6th-place finish.
Nathaniel Williams placed 8th in the Triple Jump with a mark of 13.28m.

WOMEN

Alessia Sarussi took 2nd place in the 800m with a time of 2:10.49, ranking 2nd All-Time in UIC history.
Praise Oyebanji followed in 5th place, finishing in 2:12.30.
Chinenye Ifeajekwu ran 57.97 in the 400m, earning 4th place and moving to 6th All-Time in UIC history.
Mia Maglaya secured 5th place in the Triple Jump with a mark of 10.88m, ranking 7th All-Time in UIC history.

COACH'S COMMENTS

"Our coaching staff is thrilled with the competitiveness and effort our team has provided these past few weekends against some of the best teams in the Midwest," said head coach Paul Zavala. "We had several outstanding performances throughout the day, including a few new additions to our Top-10 All-Time Indoor List."

UP NEXT

The Flames will continue their indoor season next weekend, as they get set to compete in the GVSU Big Meet, hosted by Grand Valley State in Michigan on Friday.
