CHICAGO (Feb. 26, 2025) – Freshman Edit Cosmo has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Singles Player of the Week following her standout performances in UIC's thrilling victories over Toledo and Bowling Green. Cosmo, competing at No. 2 singles, played a pivotal role in UIC's historic win over the reigning MAC champion Toledo, which marked the first time in five years the Flames defeated the Rockets.

In that match, Cosmo demonstrated remarkable composure under pressure. After dropping the first set 4-6, she fought back to win the second set 6-4 before securing a dramatic victory in the third, 7-6 (7-2). Her victory brought home the win for UIC, helping to keep the Flames' hopes alive in the tight match.

Cosmo's performance didn't stop there. She carried that momentum into UIC's next match against Bowling Green, where she clinched another crucial three-set win, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4, against Isabella Baker. This win was part of UIC's dominant 6-1 team victory.

The recognition marks Cosmo's first Player of the Week honor in her debut season, solidifying her place as one of the standout newcomers to the Flames' roster. With her strong start to the season, Cosmo continues to prove herself as a key player for UIC and a bright talent in the conference.
