Flames Fall in Back-to-Back Games at South Alabama’s Invitational Saturday

The Flames finish up in Mobile Sunday with a 10 a.m. (CT) game against Northwestern State.

MOBILE, Ala.  (Feb. 8, 2025) – The UIC softball team ( 1-3) went toe-to-toe in back-to-back softball games at Jaguar Field Saturday night in day two of South Alabama's Invitational presented by Mariott Mobile.  After falling to UAB (4-1) in a 6-3 bout before falling short later in the evening to South Alabama (4-1), 11-3.
 
In the game against UAB, senior Grace Fleming (Long Beach, Calif./ Millikan) collects two RBI on a groundout, scored on a double steal and finished the game going 1-for-3. Senior Hailey Cowing (Torrance, Calif./West Torrance) and graduate student Dee Dee Caskey (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chathard) each collects a double a piece in the game.

In their second game against South Alabama, sophomore Atina'eleila Fonoti (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) crushed a pinch-hitting double to score two in the game. Senior Emma Gumont (Warren, Ohio/Champion/Notre Dame College) also collected an RBI in the game. Redshirt junior Larissa Ortiz (Romeoville, Ill./ Romeoville/Wisconsin) also went 1-for-1 in the game.
