Golf Places Seventh at Butler University’s Don Benbow Spring Invitational

Camille Rosier moves up ten places to leading UIC tied for seventh, shooting 12-over-par.

OLDSMAR, Fla. (March 11, 2025) – The UIC golf team embarked on Ardea Country Club's 18-hole, 6,297 Par 72 golf course over the course of the past two days, finishing seventh out of the 15 teams competing in the Butler University's Den Benbow Spring Invitational. Over the two-day event, the team shot 61-over-par.
The Flames were led by freshman Camille Rosier (Paris, France/Lycee International C. De Gaulle), who moved up ten spots to finished tied for seventh, finishing the event shooting 12-over-par. After shooting seven-over-par on day one, junior Chaewon Jeong (Seoul, South Korea/ Laurel Springs School) finished Tuesday one stroke better (6+) in her second round to finish tied for 11th place (+13). Senior Lia Thomas (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) finished tied for 16th with a score of 14-over-par, competing as an individual, and not reflected on the team score.

FLAMES FACTS
  • The Flames had the strongest finish out of any Missouri Valley Conference school participating in the event, finishing just three strokes ahead of the Bruins.
  • The team collectively shot 18 birdies across the 18 holes of play.
  • Thomas collected the lone eagle for the Flames Tuesday afternoon, sinking it on the 9th hole, Par 5.
  • Jeong's T-11th place individual finish is her top finish since the Point O'Woods Collegiate on Sept. 19.
UP NEXT
The Flames remain in the Sunshine state this week, as they travel to Palm Coast to compete in Purdue Fort Wayne's Hammock Beach Classic at the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort and Spa beginning on March 13. The two-day event will have live stats available at Leaderboard King, with tee times scheduled Thursday for 10:30 a.m. (CT).
