The Blue Demons went ahead early, plating four runs in the first frame to go ahead 4-0. The Flames answered in the second on a sacrifice fly from Leila Dixon. Depaul answered with a pair of runs in the third, which were answered by the Flames in the home half, thanks to a Dee Dee Caskey solo home run and an RBI double from Seqouia Sanchez to pull within three at 6-3. Cameran Rios pulled UIC within two with a sixth inning RBI single before the Blue Demons answered with three in the top of the seventh.
UIC put together a strong rally in the bottom of the seventh, plating four runs thanks to RBI hits from Emma Gumont and Brianna Motto, but the tying run would be stranded at second base, as the Flames would fall by a 9-8 final score.
