CHICAGO, Ill. – With the unpredictable weather causing a shift in games, the UIC softball team took on the University of Iowa (UNI) Panthers in a doubleheader to begin the three-game Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) weekend series. The conference undefeated Panthers (16-8, 5-0) remained undefeated following Friday's doubleheader as they went on to defeat the Flames (4-25, 0-5) 7-1 in game one and 6-2 in game two.
GAME ONE RECAP
At the end of the second inning, the Panthers held a 3-0 lead over the Flames. The visitors then extended their lead in the top of the fourth with a four-run inning. In the bottom of the fourth, Hailey Cowing collected the Flames' first game hit with a single to right field. During the bottom of the sixth, the Flames scored their lone run when Dee Dee Caskey reached home on a fielder's choice. No more runs scored as the Panthers defeated the Flames 7-1 in game one.

GAME TWO RECAP
Game two saw a scoreless game through four innings, with four hits by the Panthers and two hits from Sequoia Sanchez and Emma Gumont for the Flames. The action then favored the Panthers, who put up a five-run inning in the top of the fifth to take the lead. During the bottom of the sixth, the Flames got on the board with a two-RBI single by Larissa Ortiz. The Panthers added one run in the top of the seventh, defeating the Flames 6-2 in game two.
