Baseball Welcomes Northwestern for Tuesday Night Showdown

Flames to Play Fifth Game Against Big Ten Opponent This Week

CHICAGO – The UIC baseball team (6-20, 2-4 MVC) returns to home action this week, as the Flames will play host to Northwestern (12-13, 5-4 B1G) for the second time during the 2025 season. The Flames bested the Wildcats 5-2 in their first meeting at Curtis Granderson Stadium on March 12.

  • The Flames enter the week with a 3-2 record at home this season, including a double-header split with Indiana State this past Saturday.
  • Luke Nowak has continued to post eye-popping offensive numbers for UIC, batting .500 against left-handed pitching this season, and .367 (11-30) with runners in scoring position.
  • UIC as a team has a nearly 60 percent success rate scoring runners from third with less than two outs.
  • Jackson Bessette continues to lead the team in RBI (21), and is batting .400 (2-5) in bases loaded situations this season.
  • Tuesday starter David Cox will look for his second collegiate victory on the mound on Tuesday, after notching his first in a 13-5 victory over NIU on March 26.
