Softball Heading to Bloomington, Ind. for Hoosier Classic

Flames will take part in the Hoosier Classic hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. Between March 7-9. The Flames will take on Indiana University Indianapolis, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, and the host, Indiana University

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Mar. 6, 2025) – The UIC softball team (4-15) will compete in their final non-conference tournament of the 2025 season this upcoming weekend, between March 7-9, when they take part in the Hoosier Classic hosted by Indiana University.  

The entire tournament will be streamed on the Big Ten + Network. Live stats for every game will be available on UICFlames.com

LAST WEEKEND AT THE EKU COLONEL CLASSIC 

  • It was another tough weekend of competition for the Flames as they took on the University of Akron, Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Dayton.  

  • In total, the Flames recorded nine runs over the weekend, including eight in their 9-8 loss against Dayton on Saturday, March 1st, and one in their 4-1 loss against Dayton on Sunday, March 2nd.  

  • During the Flames first game against Dayton, both Dee Dee Caskey (Indianapolis, Ind. / Bishop Chatard) and Jojo Santiago (Channahon, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) recorded a double and a triple. Caskey finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs while Santiago finished 3-for-4 with two RBI's and one run.  

  • Santiago finished the weekend with a .455 average after going 5-for-11 with a double, a triple, two RBI's, and one run.  

  • Caskey finished the weekend with a .400 average after going 4-of-10 with two doubles, a triple, and three runs.
