Terre Haute, Ind. – In their series finale, the UIC softball team and the Indiana State University Sycamores took the diamond for an early afternoon contest on Sunday, April 27th. The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) favored the home team as the Sycamores (18-20, 12-10 MVC) secured the series sweep over the Flames (8-42, 4-19 MVC) with a 2-0 victory.
RECAP
Taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, the Sycamores led the Flames for the remainder of the game. The Flames would get runners in scoring position in both the second, third, and fourth innings, but could not bring them home as they remained trailing the Sycamores. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Sycamores added one run, taking a 2-0 lead. In the top of the seventh, Emma Gumont would try to get action going for the Flames with a lead-off single, but the Flames were unable to get anything going as they ultimately fell to the Sycamores 2-0.

On Wednesday, April 30th, the Flames will resume action against the Illinois State University Redbirds in their rain-suspended game from March 29th. The game will pick up where it left off, with the Flames up to bat in the top of the fifth inning, tied at 4-4, and Emma Gumont up to bat with one out and a runner on second.
