Men’s Cross Country Places Three in the Top 10 at the Badger Classic

Zac Close, Theodore Cunningham and Alexander Das were the Flames top three finishers.

MADISON, Wis. – UIC continued its 2025 cross country season at the Badger Classic, hosted by the University of Wisconsin on Friday, September 19. The Flames placed third out of four teams in the men's 8,000m race, competing against Marquette, Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Platteville.

Despite racing with a limited squad, UIC delivered a solid team performance highlighted by three top-10 performances.

KEY PERFORMANCES

Zac Close was the first of three consecutive Flames to cross the finish line, placing eighth in a time of 25:38, followed closely by Theodore Cunningham in ninth at 25:47 and Alexander Das placing 10th in 26:06.

COACH'S COMMENTS

"Even with a limited group competing, we came away with a competitive performance by our team today,"  said head coach Paul Zavala. "We look forward to competing at full strength next week at the Gans Creek Classic."

The Flames return to action on Friday, Sept. 26 at the Gans Creek Classic, hosted by the University of Missouri.
