HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS – The UIC baseball team (2-3, 0-0 MVC) opened its three-game series against Sam Houston (3-2, 0-0 CUSUA) with a three-pitcher shut-out, defeating the Bearkats 2-0 at Don Saunders Stadium Friday night.
After two scoreless innings in a pitcher's duel between junior

Sean Cody scored when senior
Will Smoot reached on a ground ball that was mishandled by Bearkats infielder Sean Bazmore. Later in the inning, senior
Ashton Kampa drove in junior
Lucas Smith with a groundout.
Lei was dominant from the outset, tossing 6 1/3 innings while allowing four hits, walking two and striking out 10. Graduate student
Mark Eddie followed with 1 1/3 innings of relief, and
Zack Millsap secured the final four outs for his second save of the season.
