CHICAGO –The Missouri Valley Conference announced its weekly awards Monday afternoon, recognizing senior
Jessica Carrothers as its Newcomer of the Week.
The guard averaged 22 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and one steal per game last week, shooting 67.9% from the field (19-for-28).Carrothers played a key role in big wins against Indiana State (9-18, 5-12 MVC) and Drake (8-18, 7-9 MVC).

Ashleen Bracey.
In the 95-80 victory against the Sycamores, Carrothers led all scorers with 24 points, six assists, three rebounds and a steal. She followed that up with a 22 point, three assists and two rebound performance in the 69-61 victory over Drake, playing a key role in UIC's first win at the Knapp Center in program history.
This is the third time Carrothers has earned the recognition, earning it on Nov. 10 and Nov. 24 earlier in the season.
She ranks third in scoring at 18.3 points per game, fourth in field-goal percentage at 51.4%, sixth in assists at 3.9 per game and tied for 12th in steals at 1.4 per game in the MVC.

Thursday's game will also be our Education Day Game, where kids all around Chicago will be invited to attend the game to watch some UIC Women's Basketball.
There will also be a pregame ceremony, commemorating Carrothers hitting the 2,000-career point milestone in the 68-65 victory over Evansville (7-20, 5-11 MVC) on Feb. 7.
