Softball Set to Begin Conference Play

The Flames begin Missouri Valley Conference Play at Belmont.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The UIC softball team (10-10-1, 0-0 MVC) is set to open Missouri Valley Conference play, as they travel Nashville for a three-game series against the defending champions Belmont (13-6, 0-0 MVC) from March 6-7. First pitch will take place at 1:00 p.m. CT on Friday.

  • This is the 15th-17th all time meeting between the Flames and Bruins, with Belmont leading the all-time series 12-2.
  • This is the earliest the Flames have gotten to 10 wins (21 games) since the 2021 season.
  • Sam Tourtillott was named MVC Newcomer of the Week (Mar. 3) in a five game stint, Tourtillott went 9-for-16 with 10 runs, two doubles and two homers.

MAKE IT HAPPEN GAMES RECAP
 
The Flames played five games in Madeira Beach, Fla. at the Make It Happen games, winning four. UIC beat UAlbany, Bowling Green, Bethune-Cookman and Siena with its largest margin of victory coming against UAlbany winning 9-1 in six innings. Larissa Ortiz and Sam Tourtillott both homered in the contest.
