CORALVILLE, IOWA – Less than 24 hours removed from its final conference game, the UIC women's basketball team (14-17, 9-11 MVC) locked in the No. 7 seed ahead of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Basketball Tournament at the Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa from March 12-15. The Flames open the tournament taking the No. 10 seed Evansville Purple Aces (7-24, 5-15 MVC), Thursday March 12 at 6:00 p.m. (CT).

UIC and Evansville met twice during Missouri Valley Conference play, with the Flames winning both matchups — 66-48 on Jan. 16 in Evansville and 68-65 at home on Feb. 7 at Credit Union 1 Arena.Senior guard Jessica Carrothers has had a strong showing against the Purple Aces, collecting 21.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds across both contests.
This will be the 23rd meeting between the programs, with UIC holding a 13-10 lead in the series. Since joining the Missouri Valley Conference, the Flames have won eight of the past nine matchups, including a 72-62 victory in the opening round of last year's conference tournament.
The winner of Thursday's contest will advance to face No. 2 seed Belmont (20-11, 16-4 MVC) in the quarterfinals Friday, March 13 at 6 p.m. CT. The Flames will look to avenge a 78-70 overtime loss to the Bruins this past Saturday to close out conference play.
