CHICAGO – UIC women's basketball coach Ashleen Bracey announced the program's third transfer ahead of the 2026-27 season Thursday afternoon. Miyah Brown joins the Flames after four seasons at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky. (2022-26). The guard arrives at UIC with one year of eligibility after opting to redshirt this past season.

Brown becomes the third student athlete to join the Flames through the transfer portal this offseason, joining Lyla Kahrimanovic (April 9) and Evyn Carrier (April 18).

"Miyah is an incredible addition to our Flames Family," Bracey said. "She embodies a great deal of experience and leadership that will add to our returning depth. She is an elite guard offensive rebounder, an effective finisher at the rim, and excels at drawing fouls.  She is committed to playing hard on both ends of the floor and has shown success playing multiple different positions.  Miyah is a great student, takes pride in her work in the community, and will make a positive impact on our team culture, athletic department, and university."

In three seasons (2022-25) on the court for the Knights, Brown played in 93 games, collecting 71 starts at Bellarmine. Her best season came during her sophomore year in 2023-24, when she averaged 9.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 16 blocks in the season.

Against the perennial Atlantic Sun powerhouse Florida Gulf Coast in Jan. 2024, Brown scored 17 points, sank all five of her free throws and grabbed three rebounds against the Eagles.

The 5-foot-11 guard finished her time with Bellarmine with 36 games in double figures, with four games with 20 or more points. She also recorded 10 or more rebounds in seven games in her career, including a career-high 13 rebounds against Lipscomb in Feb. 2025.

An all-around athlete during her high school career at Winnebago High School. Brown broke the school record with 1,783 career points, breaking a record that was held for 39 years. She also set the record for most points scored in a single game, when she scored 46 points in Winnebago's 69-42 win over Genoa-Kingston her junior year.

The Rockford, Ill. native would earn numerous accolades in her time with the Lady Indians, including becoming two-time Associate Press (AP) All-State selection and a four-time Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) All-State recipient.

Brown helped lead Winnebago to a 35-3 overall record her senior year, going 10-0 against the Big Northern conference, and finishing as the State Class 2A Runners-Up. Brown became the first women's basketball player in program history at Winnebago to commit to playing on the NCAA DI level.

UIC women's basketball continues to make strides at the NCAA Division I level under coach Bracey. After three consecutive postseason appearances from 2022-25, the Flames aim to return in 2026-27, as they enter their fifth season in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Forward Julia Coleman returns to UIC next season after ranking eighth in the MVC in scoring (16.1 PPG) and rebounding (7.4 RPG) in 2025-26. She earned All-MVC third-team, all-defensive team and all-newcomer team honors for her efforts.

The Flames will also rely on returning veteran leaders Tutu Clayton and Magdalena Winter. Clayton started every game last season, while Winter showed significant growth in her first full season on the court, earning MVC Freshman of the Week honors early in nonconference play.
