Chicago, Ill. - After a 19-13 start to the 2002 season, the UIC softball team earned a spot in the Mideast Region Top-10 Poll released this morning.
The bi-weekly ranking lists the top-10 schools in each of the nation's eight regions alphabetically for the first two polls then ranks them 1-10 for the final three polls.
The Flames are just one-of-three non-Big 10 teams to earn a spot in the poll. Ball State and Central Michigan, both of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), were also ranked.
Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin round out the regional top-10.
UIC will be back in action on Thursday, April 4, as they travel to South Bend, Ind., to take on Notre Dame.
