Las Cruces, N.M. - The UIC softball team fell to 1-3 at the 2003 Troy Cox Classic with a 4-1 loss to Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon.

The Flames, now 2-11 on the year, will wrap up competition at the event tomorrow morning by taking on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Versus the Bulldogs, UIC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a first-inning RBI single by junior Amanda Rivera.

Mississippi State answered, though, with two of its own in the bottom of the frame off starter Brittany McIntyre. Jennifer Waterman drove in both runs with a two-out triple to right field.

The Bulldogs would later tack on single runs in the third and the sixth inning for the final 4-1 score.
