Plant City, Fla. - The UIC softball team was eliminated from the consolation bracket of the 2003 Speedline Invitational on Sunday afternoon as they were shutout by Ole Miss, 3-0.
With the loss, the Flames fall to 4-16 on the year while the Lady Rebels improve to 8-10.
Ole Miss scored all three of its runs with two outs in the bottom of the second inning as UIC starting pitcher Alison Aguilar struggled with her control. Aguilar walked three batters and hit another in the frame to lead to the Lady Rebels' rally.
Freshman Brittany McIntyre would enter for Aguilar in the second and get the Flames out of a bases loaded jam, but the damage was already done. UIC would tally just two hits on the day off of Ole Miss hurler Lindsay Price, who struck out nine batters en route to the complete-game victory.
Rookie Meghan Gallagher posted both hits for the Flames on the day.
McIntyre was strong in relief for UIC, not allowing a run in four-plus innings of work while scattering two hits.
The Flames are now off until March 18th, when they begin a California road swing over spring break by visiting Pacific at 3:00 p.m.
