Milwaukee, Wis. - All good things must come to an end.

Despite a four-run rally in the top of the ninth inning, the University of Illinois at Chicago baseball team's nine-game winning streak came to an end as UW-Milwaukee held on for the 10-8 Horizon League victory at Henry Aaron Field on Friday afternoon.

UWM was the beneficiary of a little small ball, as the Panthers pounded out 20 hits on the afternoon, 18 of which were singles. UWM outfielders Sam Jansen (4-for-5, 2 runs), Matt Alexander (3-for-5, 3 RBI, run) and second baseman Charlie Reschke (3-for-4, 2 RBI, run) combined for 10 of the Panthers' hits.

With the victory, UWM improves to 11-15 on the season and 3-2 in Horizon League action, while the Flames drop to 21-10 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

UIC starter Marcus Goodman (3-1) was tagged with his first loss of the season, allowing 12 hits, all singles, and eight earned runs in 3.2 innings of work. UWM hurler Ben Stanczyk (3-3) picked up the victory for the Panthers, scattering 10 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out eight batters.

Stanczyk was equally effective at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Junior catcher Justin Johnson led UIC offensively, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, including a solo homer, his seventh of the season in the seventh inning. Sophomore Ted Rosinski also connected for his first career homer, a two-run shot, in the top of the second inning.

Senior left fielder Mike Hughes also turned in an impressive effort at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, with a twin-bill slated for 1:00 p.m.
