Clearwater, Fla. - The UIC softball team ended the 2005 Speedline Invitational on a sour note, getting shutout by Long Island, 4-0 on Sunday morning.
The Flames, who went 1-5 over the weekend, return home with an 8-15 overall record.
Long Island pitcher Chelsea Crosy scattered nine hits in seven innings to post the shutout win over UIC.
The Blackbirds plated their first run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Leaha Glenn.
Long Island then added three more tallies in the fifth inning, highlighted by a two-out, two-run single by Randi Gillespie.
The Flames will be back in action next week when they open play at the N.C. State Tournament on Friday at 2:00 p.m., versus Central Connecticut State.
