Chicago, Ill. - With just two weeks left in the regular season, the UIC softball team focuses on Horizon League play this week as the first place Flames host five league contests.
UIC welcomes Butler to Flames Field on Tuesday, April 26th, for a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader, before Cleveland State comes a calling this weekend for a three-game series.
The Flames are currently a half game ahead of UW-Green Bay for first place in the Horizon League standings with an 8-2 record. The Phoenix, now 8-3, pushed its way up the standings this weekend with a three-game sweep of Butler. UIC had its weekend set at Wright State rained out.
Butler will be fresh in the Flames' minds after posting a 12-0, five-inning triumph over the Bulldogs just a week ago.
Butler is in the midst of a six-game losing streak and now sits in seventh place in the Horizon League with a 6-8 record.
Cleveland State, meanwhile, is part of a logjam in the middle of the league standings at 4-4 and 14-21 overall. Three other teams - Loyola, Wright State, Detroit - also have .500 league records. The Vikings also had their weekend series at Detroit washed out and have now had six league games postponed this season.
