CHICAGO - The UIC softball team heads south for the UCF Tournament this weekend, February 20-22 in Orlando, Fla.

The Flames (1-7, 0-0 Horizon) will face a tournament field featuring host Central Florida, Boston College, Portland State and Oklahoma State on Friday and Saturday, as well as a yet to be scheduled rematch with one of the aforementioned teams Sunday morning.

UIC is currently led by junior Stephanie Chavez, who is batting .455 with 10 hits, a pair of RBI and three runs.

Freshman Ashley Hewett has been UIC's go-to arm in the circle, striking out 22 in 30.2 innings of work.

The Flames kick things off against ACC foe Boston College on Friday at 3:30 p.m. CST. All games this weekend will be available on gametracker as well.
