LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The UIC softball team fell to Mid American Conference opponent Eastern Michigan, 8-4, on Saturday morning at the Cardinal Invitational, hosted by Louisville.
The Flames (4-16) were down 3-0 entering the bottom of the second with two outs when the first of two Eagles errors drove in Christie Seddon and Shannon Kehr and advanced batter Carly DeMarco all the way to third.
DeMarco would score off a wild pitch in the next at bat to tie things up for the Flames.
The game was knotted at three when EMU broke things open with a four-run sixth inning, which included a two-run homer by the shortstop Stacie Skodinski, her second of the day.
UIC would answer back in the bottom of the inning off of Sarah Clynes RBI single to right field that allowed Kelsey Sturgeon to score, but were unable to create any more offensive opportunties.
Whitney Orellana stuck out a season-high six, scattering 10 hits for all eight runs in her first loss of the season (1-1).
The Flames close out the Cardinal tournament on Sunday, facing host Louisville at 11 a.m. before capping things off with Minnesota at 3 p.m.
