CHICAGO - Bridget Boyle will join the UIC softball team during the fall of 2012, it was announced by head coach Michelle Venturella Thursday morning. Boyle is a native of Hammond, Ind., and attends Lake Central High School.
"We are so excited to have Bridget join our program," Venturella said. "She is a great person, who has the passion and commitment to help continue to move this program in the right direction. She will be a great asset to our pitching staff along with Devin and Lindsay. She will also provide depth with her versatility as an athlete."
A four-year letterwinner at Lake Central, Boyle has split her time between pitching and the infield. During her career as an Indian, she has assisted her team to a Duneland Athletic Conference Championship during her freshman and junior season. As Boyle is still in the midst of her senior season, the team is currently 17-2 overall, and 9-2 in the conference.
The right-handed player has helped her team to a sectional and regional championship during her sophomore and junior seasons, while also being named to the all-city team during those seasons. As a junior, Boyle was selected to the all-conference and all-region teams.
An active member at Lake Central, Boyle is a member of the class cabinet, Dollars for Scholars and National Honor Society. She is a four-year high honor roll member and academic letterwinner.
Boyle is the daughter of Tim and Patti Boyle, and has two siblings, Alyssa and Ryan.
