Coach Dee's Postgame Comments
CHICAGO - The UIC baseball team (7-10-1, 4-2 HL) split its Saturday doubleheader with Oakland (3-14, 1-5 HL) at Curtis Granderson Stadium. The Flames dropped the first contest, 6-4, before scoring 12 runs over the final two innings to win game two, 14-4.
The Flames are back in action Tuesday with a home matchup against Notre Dame (15-6). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at Curtis Granderson Stadium.
Game 1

Jake Dahlberg lasted seven innings on the mound and allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits. He struck out four batters and walked a pair.
Cody Bohanek led the Flames at the plate as he went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Carl Sugihara and Mickey McDonald both went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base. Sugihara scored UIC's fourth run in the ninth inning.
Oakland scored three runs over the first two innings off Dahlberg. The Flames committed two errors in the second inning, which led to two Golden Grizzlies runs.
The Flames got on the scoreboard in the third when Bohanek scored on McDonald's infield single. Bohanek led off the fifth inning with a double and crossed the plate on Gabe Dwyer's single to left field.
Bohanek helped the Flames tie the game at 3-3 in the seventh inning following a leadoff single. Sugihara drove in Bohanek with a one-out single up the middle.
Ryan Hinchley (1-1) relieved Dahlberg in the eighth inning and allowed a run following a one-out wild pitch. Oakland added two insurance runs off Hinchley in the ninth inning on two hits.
Sugihara doubled with two outs in the bottom half and later scored on a passed ball. With two outs and the tying run at the plate, Tyler Detmer struck out swinging to end the game.

Jack Andersen (2-2) picked up the victory after allowing three runs over 7 2/3 innings on the mound. He allowed seven hits and walked three batters.
Alex Lee, Bohanek and Trevor Lane had three hits while McDonald and David Cronin recorded a pair. Cronin drove in four runs, Sugihara knocked in three while Detmer and Lee had a pair of RBIs. Detmer had two hits Saturday and extended his reached-base streak to a nation-leading 40 games.
Andersen allowed two singles in the second inning and Oakland scored the game's first run on a fielder's choice. A leadoff double in the fourth came around to score on a two-out single to give the Golden Grizzlies a 2-0 lead.
Lee led off the fourth with a single and later scored on Cronin's sacrifice fly to right field. The Flames tied the contest at 2-2 in the fifth inning when Jeff Boehm scored following Lee's two-out single and a throwing error on the shortstop.
The Flames put distance between themselves and the Golden Grizzlies with a five-run seventh that featured four hits. Oakland narrowed UIC's lead to 7-4 in the eighth after two doubles came around to score. UIC scored seven more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on seven hits.
