July 27, 2015 The 2015-16 academic year begins in 28 days and UICFlames.com counts down the Top 25 Flames over the summer months (June 8-July 31). Each sport will be featured over eight weeks as we preview the upcoming year in UIC Athletics.

In this installment of 'Top 25 Flames for 2015-16', we feature women's basketball guard Terri Bender. The senior was voted All-Horizon League Defensive Team for the second-consecutive season at the conclusion of the 2014-15 campaign. She picked up 69 steals and ranked 26th nationally with 2.8 steals per contest.

Bender started 24 of the 25 games in which she played last season. She averaged 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 34 minutes per contest.

Bender ranked eighth in the Horizon League in scoring, fifth in assists, second in steals and ninth in minutes played. Bender's efforts have placed her sixth in career assists (355) and eighth in steals (207) in program history.

Bender collected an impressive 22 double-digit scoring performances on top of scoring over 20 points on five occasions. She recorded a career-high 25 points and six steals at Eastern Illinois (Dec. 14) and sank a career-high 15 free throws versus SIU-Edwardsville (Dec. 3).

Bender picked up a career-high seven steals against Chicago State (Dec. 16) and a career-high 11 rebounds at Youngstown State (Feb. 7). Bender and the Flames were 11-5 at home in 2014-15 and will look to build off their 10-4 non-conference record and 16-win season.
