July 6, 2015 The 2015-16 academic year begins in 49 days and UICFlames.com counts down the Top 25 Flames over the summer months (June 8-July 31). Each sport will be featured over eight weeks as we preview the upcoming year in UIC Athletics. In this installment of `Top 25 Flames for 2015-16', we will look at men's gymnast
Trent Jarrett. The senior represented the Flames on rings and parallel bars throughout the season and qualified for the NCAA Championships at the end of the year as an individual on rings and an alternate on parallel bars.
Jarrett competed in every meet during the season and placed within the top 10 on 12 occasions. He had his best meet of the season at Temple on Feb. 14, when he recorded a season-high score of 14.450 and second place on rings and then went on the mark a career best on parallel bars with his second place score of 14.150.
In the postseason, Jarrett finished 13th on rings with 13.850 and 22nd on parallel bars with 13.400 at the ECAC Championships. He went on to the NCAA Championships and scored a 13.150 on rings to cap the season.
Following his junior campaign, Jarrett tried out and competed on the seventh season of NBC's American Ninja Warrior, a competition in which competitors work their way through obstacles courses of increasing difficulty.
