CHICAGO -- UIC is in the midst of a stretch when it will play seven of eight games at Granderson Stadium, but the one contest away from home in the span takes place on Tuesday, March 21, when the Flames make the short trip north to Evanston, Ill., where they will meet the Northwestern Wildcats.
UIC (10-6, 3-0 Horizon League) has won a season-high six games in a row, a streak that began with a 9-2 victory at NU on March 7. The Flames scored in every inning of the game what was shortened to seven frames because of darkness at Rocky & Berenice Miller Park.
Rob Calabrese matched a career high with three RBI as he tallied three hits, including two doubles. On the mound, freshman
Jacob Key produced a quality start as he went 6.0 innings while allowing only two runs against 'Cats. The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native struck out five batters for the second time in as many starts this season. For a full recap of that game,

During UIC's current six-game surge that began at Northwestern (5-13), UIC is batting .303 as a team and the offense is averaging 5.8 runs per game. Five different players are batting .333 or better since March 7 and five have driven in at least four runs. The hitting has been strong, but the pitching has been downright dominant. The Flames have allowed only seven earned runs in 55.0 innings of work during the current winning streak. The staff owns an ERA of 1.15 and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 2.6. The three opponents during the streak - Northwestern, Chicago State and Youngstown State - are batting .176 with only three extra-base hits in six games.
Northwestern dropped three-of-four to Central Michigan last weekend. Senior
Jake Schieber tallied a team-high six hits on the weekend and scored three times.
Jack Dunn and
Alex Erro tallied five hits against CMU, while Dunn posted five RBIs. Erro leads the Wildcats at the plate this season with a .373 batting average and has a team-best 25 hits and two home runs. He is in the midst of a 15-game hitting streak.
Key (2-0, 2.08 ERA) will get the ball to start Tuesday's game for the Flames. The right-hander will be making his third start and fifth appearance for the Flames. He's pitched 17.1 innings and has 13 strikeouts. Northwestern has yet to announce a probable starter.
Tuesday's game will be streamed via Studio N. A link to the broadcast can be found in the blue box above. An audio-only feed and live stats will also be available.
