CHICAGO -- UIC will close a four-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon when the Northern Illinois Huskies visit Granderson Stadium for a nonconference game at 4:05 p.m.
The Flames (13-7, 5-1 Horizon League) have won nine of their last 10 games overall and six of the seven games that they played at home this season. UIC has won four consecutive against foes outside the Horizon League and a total of eight nonconference games in 2017.
During the last 10 contests the Flames are batting .312 as a team with 29 extra-base hits and scoring 6.2 runs per game. Junior
Rob Calabrese is batting .400 with two home runs and eight RBI since March 7.
Cody Bohanek and
Scott Ota are each hitting .351 in the team's last 10 games with 24 RBI between them. Ota is the reigning Horizon League Batter of the Week as he batted .533 with a pair of home runs and 10 RBI in four games for the Flames last week. To read more about Ota's recent honor,

UIC leads the Horizon League in several offensive categories including RBI (102), batting average (.275), slugging percentage (.414), on-base percentage (.357), sacrifice bunts (18), and sacrifice flies (10).
Not only has UIC posted success at the plate over the last 10 games, the team has been winning games with the help of strong pitching and defense. Over the last 10 games, the Flames have been charged with only three errors on the season. In 20 games, UIC owns a fielding percentage of .983. That is not only the top number in the Horizon League, but it also ranks the Flames seventh overall in the NCAA through March 26. UIC has turned 27 double plays in 20 games and it leads the entire country with 1.35 twin killings per contest.
On the mound, the Flames boast a 1.98 ERA over the last 10 games and 3.13 over the course of the season. That number, 3.13, ranks UIC's pitching staff 26
th in the NCAA. The Flames allow an average of 7.32 hits per nine innings to rank 18
th among 300 teams in that category.
Freshman
Jacob Key is scheduled to make his fourth start of the season for the Flames Tuesday. The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native is 2-0 with a 2.18 ERA. NIU (7-16, 3-0 MAC) will send RHP Andrew Frankenreider to the hill. The redshirt junior is 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA this season.
The Huskies arrive in Chicago following a three-game sweep of Toledo over the weekend. NIU's offense was paced by freshman catcher Jacob Dunham, who was named MAC West Player of the Week on Monday. Dunham batted .750 in the three games against the Rockets and .600 for the week to earn his first career conference honor.
