The Flames will look to carry their momentum into Saturday's dual meet at Michigan, which is their last chance to sharpen their routines before the ECAC conference championships.
The dual at Ann Arbor has been a regular season-closing tradition the past five years. The Wolverines visited Chicago for the Windy City Classic to open the season. Including the Windy City field, Saturday will be the 11
th time the Flames have faced an opponent from the powerful Big Ten, all seven of whose teams reside in the national top nine.
The meet will begin at noon Central, with live scoring available. A live YouTube stream of UIC's performances should be available on the Flames' Road to Nationals channel.
Through the Rotations
- Sam Montague is the reigning ECAC Gymnast of the Week. He set four career highs against Cal and Oklahoma last week.
- Kaleb Booth is the ECAC's Rookie of the Week. He had the team's highest score on both of his events and set a season high on floor.
- Colin Schwartz is UIC's top pommel horse worker. Two of his three best scores have come in the last two meets.
- Senior captain Wes Diveney has the squad's top average on still rings. His highest score of the year is a quarter point better than anyone else's best effort.
- Xan Weaver has been quite consistent on parallel bars. He exploded for a season high 13.050 last week, beating his previous high by four tenths.
- Paul Burney will look to recover from a low score on high bar and re-establish himself as one of the top bar men in the ECAC.
Last Time Out
- The Flames set a season high for the third straight meet, scoring 370.300 in Berkeley.
- Weaver set a season high in the all-around.
- The team had season best showings on vault and parallel bars.
Scouting the Wolverines
- Michigan is ranked third in the country, first in the Big Ten, and has clinched a share of the conference's regular season title.
- The Wolverines feature at least one gymnast in the top four in the Big Ten in each of the individual events; however none has achieved the minimum four scores in the all-around to qualify for those rankings.
- Cameron Bock leads the team on pommel horse and parallel bars.
