Head coach
Shannon Tully announced the addition of two players to the 2021-22 UIC women's tennis roster.
Dominika Hrabalova and
Lea Forste-Dinell will join the defending Horizon League champions.
Dominika Hrabalova (Brno, Czech Republic) is a graduate transfer from UAB. In her four years at UAB, she totaled 37 singles wins, including a career high 13 as a senior. Hrabalova had a career best 10-match winning streak from Feb. 14 to April 9, 2021. She was named to the All-C-USA Second Team as a singles player her senior season, and also earned team MVP honors as a senior. Her academic work was rewarded with the ITA Academic Award, the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, and the Commissioner's Academic Medal every year of her undergraduate career.
Hrabalova enjoys traveling, hiking, running, baking, and yoga. She named a marathon match against MTSU, ending under the lights at 9 pm with a win on Senior Day, as her biggest athletic thrill. She will pursue her master's in marketing at UIC.
Tully on Hrabalova: "Dominika had an incredible undergraduate career at UAB and was a standout, both athletically and academically. Graduating with a 4.0 in marketing, along with having her best season on the courts her senior year, I couldn't wait to sign her. During my first conversation with Dominika, I could tell that she still had so much motivation and drive to complete her master's degree and to continue competing at the highest level. She was a leader on the courts at UAB and will undoubtedly be a leader here. I can't wait to coach her."
Lea Forste-Dinell (Stockholm, Sweden) is a freshman in the fall of 2021. She won the Swedish junior championship in 2018, and also was the winner at regionals in Stockholm in 2018. Forste-Dinell was chosen as role model of the year at her tennis club in 2019. She enjoys writing, listening to music, games, and cooking.
Tully on Forste-Dinell: "Lea and I have been talking for close to two years, and I feel like I've known her even longer. Our personalities clicked right away, and I know that she will fit right into the winning traditions that we have at UIC. Lea is an amazing student, talented player and athlete, and she has accomplished so much as a junior player in Sweden. I am looking forward to growing her game and helping her play her best tennis as a Flame. After all of our phone conversations, it's a joy to have her finally here on campus."
