SAN ANTONIO, Tex. – UIC's men's tennis (8-12, 3-2 Southland) fell short in a tight matchup Sunday, losing 4-3 to Incarnate Word (12-3, 1-0 Southland). UIW shared a piece of the 2022 Southland Conference regular-season championship. UIC now ranks third in Southland Conference standings.

- UIW continued to push forward with a 2-6, 3-6 win over Pelle Strandberg at position #1.
- Miroslav Cvjetan dropped his match at singles three 3-6, 2-6.
- Gustavo Schwebel grabbed a win for the Flames over Marwin Kralemann at singles #5. He came back after losing the first set 6-7, 6-1, 10-8.
- Aleksa Bucan was victorious at singles two, beating Pietro Perego of UIW 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. He's now 5-0 at singles.
- Jai Vallurupalli kept UIC close by outlasting Incarnate Word's Jose Garmendia 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 at position four.
- At positon six, Ammar Wazir came up short 3-6, 5-7.
UP NEXT
The Flames return to action Saturday, April 15, taking on Xavier in Cincinnati, Ohio. First serve will take place from the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility. The time is still yet to be determined.
