CHICAGO – After tying the game at 16 early in the second quarter, the UIC women's basketball team (1-2, 0-0 MVC) took control and never looked back, securing a 66–55 win over Northern Illinois (0-4, 0-0 MAC) Thursday night at Credit Union 1 Arena.
Senior
Jessica Carrothers led the Flames with 22 points and three assists. Sophomores
Samantha Serrano (14 points, six rebounds) and
Tutu Clayton (11 points, three rebounds) also delivered key performances to help lift UIC to its first win of the season.

- Carrothers remains one of the top scorers in the Missouri Valley Conference, averaging 22.3 points per game.
- Serrano was perfect from the charity stripe, going 8-for-8 at the free-throw line.
- Redshirt Sophomore Julia Coleman grabbed 10 rebounds, giving her 23 total rebounds across the first three games—currently the fifth-most in The Valley.
- The Flames collected 38 total rebounds, including a season-high 12 offensive boards.
