CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (6-7, 1-1 MVC) pulled within six points late in the third quarter, but ultimately fell to Drake (3-9, 2-0 MVC) in its Missouri Valley Conference home opener Monday afternoon.
Senior
Jessica Carrothers led the Flames with 26 points, scoring 20 in the second half to go along with four rebounds and two assists. Redshirt freshman
Magdalena Winter added eight points and seven rebounds in 28 minutes, while redshirt sophomore
Julia Coleman finished with eight points, four rebounds.

- Carrothers recorded her second 20-plus point performance of the season, finishing just two points shy of tying her season-high 28 points set in the season opener against Robert Morris on Nov. 3.
- Winter has pulled down seven or more rebounds in four of the Flames' last five games.
- The Flames' best shooting quarter came in the second, closing the first half at 7-for-13 from the field (53%).
- Following her four-rebound outing, Coleman remains the team's leading rebounder with 85 on the season.
