VALPARAISO, Ind. — A 24-point fourth quarter lifted the UIC women's basketball team (5-5, 1-0 MVC) to a 61-44 win over Valparaiso (0-9, 0-1 MVC) on Sunday afternoon at the Athletics-Recreation Center in its Missouri Valley Conference opener.
Senior
Crystal Ortiz led all scorers with 17 points and six rebounds. Redshirt sophomore
Julia Coleman added 15 points — 10 of them in the fourth quarter — and four rebounds. Redshirt freshman
Magdalena Winter finished with nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
