UIC Alumni Arin Freeman Signs Professional Contract to play in Macedonia

The former Flame will join KK Badel 1862 Skopje for the upcoming season.

CHICAGO – Another former member of UIC women's basketball inked a professional contract, as Arin Freeman (2024-25) will be joining the KK Badel 1862 Skopje women's professional team, based out of Skojpe, North Macedonia for the remainder of the 2025-26 team.

KK Badel 1862 Skopje is in its 13th season of existence and its fourth as a member of the North Macedonian League. Entering the weekend, the club holds a 5–5 record with four regular season games remaining.

"I am so happy for Arin and her pursuit to follow her dreams playing professionally," head coach Ashleen Bracey said. "Arin is an incredible person that will elevate her team on both ends of the floor.  Arin's best basketball is ahead of her, and I am so excited to watch her go impact her team!"
 
In her lone season in the Windy City, Freeman played in 32 games, penciled into the starting lineup 18 times in the 2024-25 season. Freeman averaged 21.9 minutes, 6.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
She surpassed 1,000 career points in UIC's 113-53 victory over North Central on Dec. 8. 11 days later, Freeman scored a season-high 19 points in front of a packed house at Credit Union 1 Arena against No. 10 LSU on Dec. 19.

Freeman becomes the fifth former player under Bracey to sign a professional contract, joining Dais' Ja Trotter, Ky Dempsey-Toney ,Danyel Middleton and Makiyah Williams

The Flames return to Credit Union 1 Arena next Saturday, Jan. 31 to take on Valparaiso (0-20, 0-9 MVC) at 2 p.m. (CT).

The game will be streamed on ESPN+, available to listen to for free on the Flames Network or through live stats on UICFlames.com. Fan interested in attending the game can buy their tickets at Ticketmaster.com. Doors open an hour before first tip.

Saturday's game will double as Alumni Day, honoring former UIC women's basketball student-athletes throughout the afternoon, and Y2K Day, with fans encouraged to rock their favorite late-'90s and early-2000s gear.
