CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (7-8, 2-2 MVC) opened the New Year with a 70-57 victory over Indiana State (5-9, 1-3 MVC) on Sunday afternoon at Credit Union 1 Arena in Missouri Valley Conference play.
Senior
Jessica Carrothers led all scorers with 20 points, adding eight rebounds and five assists. Senior
Amelia Strong chipped in 11 points and five rebounds off the bench in 24 minutes, while graduate student
Sara Zabrecky totaled nine points on two 3-pointers and pulled down eight rebounds.

- Carrothers averaged 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game on the week.
- Zabrecky moved into 10th in program history with 117 career 3-pointers, surpassing Robyn Frascati (1985–89).
- The Flames pulled down a season-high 53 rebounds, eclipsing 50 boards for just the second time under Bracey and the first since Dec. 12, 2023.
- UIC improved to 6-1 against Indiana State since joining the Missouri Valley Conference in July 2022.
