CHICAGO – UIC women's basketball head coach Ashleen Bracey announced Saturday afternoon that Nevaeh Foster will be joining the Flames for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Foster joins UIC with one year of athletic eligibility, after making stops at Western Kentucky (2023-24) and IU Indy (2024-26) throughout her collegiate career.

"Nevaeh is an incredible addition to our Flames Family," Bracey said.  "She brings three years of DI experience to our roster and possesses the leadership skills to add to our culture immediately.  She has a committed mentality on the defensive end as well as the toughness and desire to rebound.  She is a 3-level scorer that adds a much-needed floor stretching ability to our team.  Nevaeh is efficient at getting to the paint and drawing fouls.  She has competed and performed at a high-level against Valley opponents including a 30-point game against Bradley during their IU Indy's nonconference schedule.  Nevaeh will bring a great mentality to our program and willingness to pursue excellence in the classroom on the court and in the community."

Foster becomes the fourth  student athlete to join the Flames through the transfer portal this offseason, joining Lyla Kahrimanovic (April 9), Evyn Carrier (April 18) and Miyah Brown (April 23).

In two seasons at IU Indy, Foster appeared in 61 games, making 60 starts. She is coming off her best collegiate season in 2025-26, averaging 12.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. A proven threat beyond the perimeter, Foster also sank 56 three-pointers across the season.

The 5-foot-8 guard delivered strong performances against eventual 2026 Horizon League champion Green Bay, scoring in double figures in both meetings, including a 17-point effort on the road late in the season. Her collegiate-high came against Bradley on Nov. 15, when she netted 28 points in the Jaguars 75-67 win over the Braves on the road.

A native of South Bend, Indiana, Foster recorded 37 career double-digit scoring games at IU Indy and surpassed 20 points five times.

During her lone season with the Hilltoppers, Foster appeared in 14 games off the bench. She scored her first collegiate double-digit performance against West Virginia State, finishing with 14 points in a 97-39 win in December 2023.

Foster starred at Mishawaka Marian High School in Mishawaka, Ind., where she played four years of varsity basketball from 2018-22. She averaged 25 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.3 steals per game.

She graduated as the school's all-time leading scorer with 2,240 career points, ranking 21st in Indiana high school history and second all-time in St. Joseph County.
Foster led her team to four sectional titles and earned all-state honors each season. She was named Associated Press first-team all-state and the 2022-23 Northern Indiana Conference MVP.

Foster also finished her high school career ranked in the top 10 of her class and No. 39 nationally by Prep Hoops. She earned additional national recognition from All-Star Girls Report and Blue Star Basketball.

UIC women's basketball continues to make strides at the NCAA Division I level under coach Bracey. After three consecutive postseason appearances from 2022-25, the Flames aim to return in 2026-27, as they enter their fifth season in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Forward Julia Coleman returns to UIC next season after ranking eighth in the MVC in scoring (16.1 PPG) and rebounding (7.4 RPG) in 2025-26. She earned All-MVC third-team, all-defensive team and all-newcomer team honors for her efforts.

The Flames will also rely on returning veteran leaders Tutu Clayton and Magdalena Winter. Clayton started every game last season, while Winter showed significant growth in her first full season on the court, earning MVC Freshman of the Week honors early in nonconference play.
