Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago head coach Don August sensed his squad was down on itself, following a 30-20 loss in the second game of the Flames' match against Butler on Saturday.

August, however, would not let his squad feel sorry for itself.

"We're not going to change the line-up," August said to his team during the 10-minute break during the second and third game. "You guys are going to have to accept the challenge and make the plays."

Consider the message delivered.

UIC came out of the break and captured games three and four to earn the 33-31, 20-30, 30-17, 31-29 victory over Butler at the Physical Education Building.

With the victory, UIC bounces back to the .500 mark at 13-13 and improves to 4-8 in the Horizon League. Butler drops to 11-10 overall and 6-7 in league play.

"The difference today was the aggressiveness," August said. "We stayed aggressive, we didn't back off, we played to win the match instead of not to lose it.

"Today we just said stay aggressive, go out and take your rips," August continued. "If you make a mistake, so what, it doesn't matter, just rip the ball and have fun."

Sophomore outside hitter Teaha Shepperd (Kalamazoo, Mich./Galesburg-Augusta) recorded a game-high 20 kills, while teammates Lynn Clarkson (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) and Lindsey Filkins (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) each chipped in 14 kills apiece.

Freshman setter Dawn Strahanoski (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) chipped in 54 assists and senior Vicki Lublow (Elgin, Ill./Elgin-Larkin) added 20 digs for the Flames.

Keely Norris led Butler with 16 kills, while teammates Areal Bienemy and Allison Cox garnered 11 kills apiece.

UIC will be back in action on Tuesday night as they will host in-state rival Northern Illinois at the Physical Education Building at 7:00 p.m.
