Evanston, Ill.- The UIC women's tennis team capped another outstanding season by appearing in its eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament on Friday, falling to ninth-ranked and No. 11 seed Northwestern at the Combe Tennis Center.
UIC (13-11) held its own, but the Wildcats (22-4) proved to be a tough draw on their home courts and clinched the match with two doubles wins and three singles victories.
Friday's match marked the final collegiate contests for seniors Iris Jaklin, Molly Smith and Corey Steven. All three were three-time All-Horizon League honorees during their acclaimed careers, which included league titles and NCAA bids every season during their tenure at UIC.
The Flames concluded the season with a tenth consecutive Horizon League Championship and eighth straight NCAA Tournament berth.
