Chicago, Ill. - UIC volleyball picked up a 3-1 (22-30, 30-26, 30-16, 30-14) victory over Green Bay on Friday night in Wisconsin. Sophomore Katerina Hanackova powered the charge with 17 kills and a .348 attack percentage.
Senior Amanda Kenny notched a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Epiphany Davis continued to dominate at the net with four blocks, while sophomore Emily McGinnis tied her season-high 13 digs.
Liesl Tesch owned a team-best 11 kills and a .207 attack percentage for Green Bay. Abby Bergsma totaled six blocks and Betty Slinger picked up 12 digs against the Flames.
Green Bay took an early 11-6 lead in game one. UIC answered with three straight points to get within two, but the Phoenix posted a 7-3 run to extend their advantage. The Flames put together an offensive burst late in the frame, but Green Bay captured game one with a .366 attack percentage.
Tied at 8-8, UIC turned up the heat and recorded a 9-1 run in the second matchup. Green Bay turned around and cut UIC's lead with a 7-2 burst. The Phoenix knotted it at 22-22 before taking its first lead of game two with three straight points. UIC regained the advantage on consecutive kills, eventually tying the match at 1-1 (30-26).
The Flames used their offensive momentum and posted a 17-9 start in game three after the break. UIC held the Phoenix to a .077 attack percentage, while posting a .500 offensive clip with 17 kills for the win (30-16).
UIC clinched the match victory with a .342 offensive clip in game four (30-14).
The Flames face Milwaukee on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 4:00 p.m. in Wisconsin.
